Don't let go
The first time I realized I thought my husband was attractive, It was after i'd known him for months. On a particularly hard sunday, I walked into church class and felt completely alone. I didn't want to sit by anyone I knew, but then I saw Mark and I felt safe sitting by him.
That's when I noticed his perfect straight teeth.
Mark has a great smile, He has beautiful green eyes, He has good hair, he's tall, he's handsome. He is a beacon of light in my life, he changes poop diapers and helps with bath time. He makes dinner when he gets home from school if I haven't already.
I didn't know then that i'd be having kids with him one day. I just felt this spark ignite that hadn't been there before. Now I'm not religious like I used to be, but I do believe in divine intervention, and the power of prayer, and a god who watches out for us.
Mark had so many reasons to ditch me, he could have lost interest, and just moved on, there was no particular reason that he was single still when I finally decided to come around. I've always felt the timing worked out because it was supposed to.
When I heard this song by James Arthur: Say You Won't Let Go
I immediately thought of Mark, and how I feel about him.
"I met you in the dark, you lit me up
you made me feel as though I was enough"
Thank you for all ways making me feel like I am enough. Even when I'm clearly a mess sometimes.
"I knew I loved you then
but you'd never know,
because I played it cool when I was scared of letting go,
I knew I needed you but I never showed but I want to stay with you
until were gray and old,
just say you won't let go,
just say you won't let go"
"I want to live with you even when were ghosts
because you were always there for me
when I needed you the most"
We don't have a fairy tale, but we have this life we've built together that is pretty incredible. I was able to feel safe enough to move away with a 3 month old with you, to the Florida Panhadle, so we could fulfill our dreams of living in a tropical paradise while we dig our selves into copious amounts of debt and live off student loans. I have traveled all over the place with you. We may not be a couple straight out of the movies, but we set goals together and achieve them, and we adore our cats and our son together more than anyone else in this earth will.
Maybe perfect love stories are real, or maybe they are husbands and wives with common goals, friendship and love that moves in the same direction, and support each others dreams to help them achieve them. Even if they are afraid.
