It takes a Village, across two borders

Ever since mothers day, I have been trying to write a post about how much I appreciate the mothers in my life. Not only my main moms, but the moms who mothered me even though they had no obligation to. But I want to reach farther than that, because it isn't just mothers, it fathers, and best friends, and extended family. Its people who are willing to reach out to children in hard times, hard situations and say " you are important, I will love you, and listen, and distract you and help you through this." and that my friends, takes a village.




 So here is a shout out to my village, To my second families growing up ( The Christensen and Holden's) My cousin Heather, To Jana, Mary, Heather Bonbon and Kimberly Sears, to my step mom Maryanne, and my sisters, to my mother, and last but not least, my dad who truly is an amazing man.


















 I love you all, I am forever changed because I have known you, and loved you and experienced life with you. I will hopefully always know you, and keep in touch with you even if it's from a distance at times, because lets be honest, we all get busier as life gets more complex, and we have children and husbands, and collage and graduate programs to tend to.






You are, influential to me, and have shaped me. You have taught me lessons, shared in my pain, and my joys, and helped me become a better person.









When people say it takes a village, it means it takes love, from many different personality's, and perspectives to raise a child, especially a child feeling a little lost in life, and that happens to us all.



 
 
 

 
 







So thank you, for taking an interest in me, mothering me ( yes even the dads) and loving me enough to give me sound advice, your time and attention and taking me on adventures.


I am blessed to have such a tribe as you all, and to know you and love you. I am grateful that Ryker has such a good start to his village, and that Mark and me have such an amazing support group, and while we won't know a soul in Florida, I know we will always have love back home.

Rykers Grand Entrance: A Birth Story

Ryker’s Birth, is something that will forever be a memory I hold dear to me, regardless of how stressful things went, or how nothing went as I had hoped for. It was still one of the best days of my life, because in the end, we have a perfect baby boy. All I cared about was that my child be safe, and once we established that he was, then I was happy. His Grand Entrance As every first time mom does, I anticipated what labor would be like. In my mind I had done well to prepare for it, Mark and I had taken a Hypnobirthing course, and practiced our hypnobirthing relaxation scripts and breathing techniques. Danielle Becker Photography Newborn/Family photo shoot

While I was pregnant with Everly I thought about getting a photographer to take family/newborn pictures for us, since we had with Ryker, but since we didn't have extra spending money laying around ( graduate school does this to you) I wrote it off. Well luck would have it that we were gifted again- My friend Amy who has her own Photography business offered to take pictures for us for Ryker, which is honestly one of the best gifts I can think of - unless you need other things for your newborn baby of course!  Anyway, I was so excited about this, and asked around for a good photographer. We got several recommendations for Danielle Becker Photography in Pensacola FL so we decided to go with her.  I really wanted to go to a studio for the pictures, because I just didn't feel attached to our town home, and it seemed like it would be easier to do in a studio.  Danielles studio was beautiful! I was in awe. she  also had countless prompts, swaddles and bows....
