Spartan Training, and life lately
Life Lately
- November has rolled in and the weather has dropped a couple more degrees, we have a pleasant 75 degree weather outside now, and it's really nice.
- I've been constantly reaffirmed that life is all about our choices. How we react to things we can't control, how we deal with our emotions, what we think about, and what we choose to do with our time all creates our reality.
- I've gave myself permission to let go of people and things that only bring chaos about, and have no regard for others. I breathed it in, and then breathed it out, and I felt at peace with that.
- I've been reading about Capsule wardrobes, and I want to start working towards one, and stop buying cheap, ill fitting clothes just because they are on sale, and kind of cute. If I don't adore it, i'm not buying it and this is going for stuff in my house too. I did some de-junking and felt so liberated. I'm sure there's more of that to be done, too.
- Realized I can do what ever I want to my hair, or with my makeup and it really doesn't matter in the long run of things. In fact, i'm realizing more and more that change is good for us, getting out of our comfort zones in a healthy way is good for us, doing things that are scary is good for us.
- My son, and cats and husband fill my life with more joy than I could ever put down into words
- God answers prayers, through small and simple things, big things come about.
- The best way to train for a race is to train for it. Best advice I've received lately, I asked a women I met who trains for iron mans about how she trains, she said " I don't know, I just keep running" boom! who cares how slow you are, if you want to do something, then do it.
- I'm slower than I've ever been, but I'm realizing that if I like running its about running, and not speed, it's made everything so much more enjoyable.
- My baby had his first tooth break through the gums, and he handled it like a champ! same with his shots.
- I'm growing fonder of Pensacola everyday. Life just seems slower paced here and I really like how warm and cozy it is. I feel like I live in a forest, with acorns falling all over outside, and squirrels, lizards and frogs hanging out in my yard.
- I love this time of year here so far. Life has been good, I'm excited for Ryker to start eating real foods, I think being our kid, he will love food!
- Speaking of food, Mark and I have been really disappointed with the farmers markets here not having fresh produce, and also having the hardest time finding a decent whole wheat bread. Well yesterday we hit the jackpot and found an indoor/ out door farmers market, that is also a nursery! It was a good find, and is going to be a place we frequent often I think. We also found some good bread at the Publix store, but its hit or miss, seems like it's popular and people buy it quickly, since it's made fresh daily I think. So next time we need to stock up and freeze some!
Spartan Race Update
- I am getting more excited about this race. I can do two pull ups and a couple chin ups now, and that makes me feel better. I've also been able to run 5 miles and that makes me feel better. My muscle is returning fast. I continue to focus on strengthening my core muscles, and I am pretty sure my diastase is healed, it's made a huge difference in my ability to workout.
- My body isn't completely back to normal, I still have 5 lbs to go, but I am not going to worry about losing it, i'm just going to focus on being fit and eating healthier, and whatever happens will happen.
- I keep thinking, i'm doing better than I think I am. I'm getting excited to do an obstacle course race with my husband. Who knows, maybe this will be our thing together?
- What i've been doing to train has been a little inconsistent because some days i'm just beat and need a break. Yes, it's possible for a 5.5 month old baby to wear you out, especially when he's teething, and still eating twice a night and waking up at 6:30 am.
- I try to make it to the gym 3 times a week, and train back and biceps and core two of those days, I try to do burpees at least 30 of them daily, and then the remaining gym day is for triceps and chest. I'm trying to run two or three times a week too, what really ends up happening is Ill do two gym workouts and two runs. You win some, you lose some. at least i'm going right? Burpees are really important though, because any challenge you don't complete requires 30 burpees in its place. The race is between 8-10 miles long, so I feel like the running part is important. Mark and me want to jog between obstacles so we can get through the course quicker.
